ICaST aims to provide an effective and innovative forum for the generation, dissemination, and sharing of research, technology, and business information. But most of all, ICaST intends to give a chance to everyone to present and discuss their ideas and visions.

Original articles are solicited from a wide range of ICT, both in terms of topic and the level of scientific depth. The major topic is the impact of ICT on society, which represents the driving principle of the magazine. For example, you can publish your scientific, industrial or interdisciplinary research article, or write an ad-hoc column or commentary on some topic of interest to your area, or even have your own long- or short-term series of articles if you want to cover various aspects of a topic over several magazine issues.

ICaST is aimed at a broad academic and industrial readership, and care should be taken that the technical level of articles is suitable for this wide audience. It is preferable to minimise the use of complicated theory, mathematics, jargon, and abstract concepts: you should not assume that the audience is familiar with your particular specialist subfield! Since ICaST is not a journal, but a magazine, papers should be thought-provoking, well written, interesting, up-to-date, as well as being professionally excellent.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be provided in Word format (.doc, .docx) with figures and captions (if any) embedded into the document.

To submit your article, please visit ICST’s submissions management system, e-Scripts: http://escripts.icst.org/

Sign up or log in with your regular ICST member login details, click Paper Submit in the main menu, and select ICaST as the journal to submit to.

Please indicate in the cover letter whether your submission is a research/technical article, a feature article, a column/commentary piece, a news item, an interview, etc.

All submitted articles will be reviewed rigorously by the international editorial board. Accepted articles will be published in ICaST.

Presubmission enquiries are recommended for unsolicited columns, feature articles, interviews or news items to confirm that the topic is relevant to ICaST. Please also contact us with proposals for themed series of articles or special issues.

Copyright

Any contribution to ICaST may be licensed under an appropriate Open Access licence (Creative Commons-Attribution or Creative Commons-Attribution Share-Alike), with copyright remaining with the authors. ICaST does not charge Open Access fees. This is the preferred copyright option for all article types.

For authors who for whatever reason cannot or do not wish to license articles under an Open Access licence, copyright policy depends on the article type.

  • For research/technical articles, copyright must be transferred to ICST. Authors will be asked to sign ICST’s copyright transfer policy after articles are accepted.
  • For columns, copyright remains with the author, who must grant ICST an irrevocable, non-exclusive right to distribute the article.
  • For all other article types, copyright transfer is preferred, but if not possible, authors must grant ICST an irrevocable, non-exclusive right to distribute the article.

Research/Technical Article Requirements

All submitted manuscripts must be original. Articles published (completely or in significant part) in other magazines or journals will not be considered for publication in ICaST. We will consider papers published in conference proceedings if they contain at least 30% new material and are written in a style appropriate for the magazine (see below). If a manuscript has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere, the author must include that information in the submission cover letter.

Article length should be preferably between 3,000 and 6,000 words, including references and counting a standard figure or table as 250 words.
