The 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (Chinacom 2011) was successfully held in Harbin, China on August17-19, 2011. This year’s conference continued its tradition of being the premier forum for presentation of results on cutting-edge research in telecommunications and networking, bringing together Chinese and international researchers and practitioners for discussions on the latest development in information and communication technologies. The conference attracted 196 international registrants from 12 countries in Asia Pacific, North America and Europe.

INTETAIN stands for Intelligent Technologies for Interactive Entertainment. The fourth conference (INTETAIN 2011) was held in Genova, Italy, May 25-27, 2011. Previous conferences were held in Madonna di Campiglio (Italy), Playa del Carmen (Mexico), and Amsterdam (The Netherlands). The INTETAIN conferences intend to stimulate interaction among academic researchers and commercial developers of interactive entertainment systems. The conferences focus on the development of novel user-centered intelligent computational technologies and interactive applications for entertainment, being made possible through the use of a wide range of interactive device technologies (e.g., mobile and wearable devices, home entertainment centers, haptic devices, wall screen displays, information kiosks, holographic displays, fog screens, distributed smart sensors, and immersive displays) and media delivery infrastructures (e.g., multimedia networks, interactive radio, streaming technologies, DVB-T/M, ITV, P2P, satellite broadcasting, UMTS, Bluetooth, Broadband, and VoIP).

Ambi-sys 2011, the Second International Conference on Ambient Systems and Media, was held in Casa da Musica, Porto, during March 24-25, 2011. The conference focus was on emerging technologies, services and solutions for new, human-centric ambient environments. It aimed at bringing together international senior and junior researchers, as well as developers and industry delegates to discuss issues and trends, research and technological advances in the area of design and deployment of Ambient Systems and Media.

The third International ICST Conference on Personal Satellite Services 2011 (PSATS’11) was held at the Hotel Sol Principe, Malaga in Spain from the 17-18 of February 2011, jointly organized by University of Siena (Italy), University of Trento (Italy), University of Malaga (Spain), EUTELSAT (France), European Alliance of Innovation (EAI) and CERATE-NET Research Centre (Italy). The conference was also proudly supported by the European Commission’s technology platform the ‘Integral Satcom Initiative (ISI)’.

The Second International ICST Conference on Mobile Networks and Management (MONAMI) was held in Santander, Spain on 22-24 September 2010, hosted by the University of Cantabria. Santander, a modern cosmopolitan city with a rich historical past, appealing social and cultural background, and high-quality service offerings was the perfect backdrop for the second edition of the conference. The technical program featured 29 papers, which were organized by subject in seven sessions: Routing and Virtualization, Autonomic Networking, Mobility Management, Multiaccess Selection, Wireless Network Management, Wireless Networks and, finally, a session for papers presenting Future Research Directions.

CHINACOM 2010, the 5th edition of ICST’s International Conference on Communications and Networking in China, took place on 25-27 August in Beijing with the participation of over 200 international attendees, media partners and cooperating societies such as IEEE VTS, IEEE MTT-S, and IEEE CVTC.

The ICST International Conference on User Centric Media, UCMedia, was initiated in 2009 in Venice, Italy, to provide a unique international forum for researchers in the field of user-centric multimedia technologies and to improve the understanding of the changing landscape of media. The conference aims at involving all portions of the different media value chains, from creatives, through service providers, technology enablers and users/consumers, supporting inventive and creative practices in the arts, in science, in engineering and in business, encouraging publications that help to understand, to predict and to enable trends in the relationship between users and media.
