This new magazine of ICST (Institute for Computer Sciences, Social-Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering) has been conceived as YOUR KIND OF PLACE where you will find the latest of ICT itself and of its inter-disciplinary applications in such areas, just to mention a few, as healthcare, biology, business, social, automotive, law/forensics, architecture, arts, and education. If you are interested in the social context and implications of ICT, you will also find here a great deal of real- life cases and a platform to discuss them.

The quality and impact of the contributions that we shall publish; the trustworthiness and reliability of information we shall provide you, are our main concern and duty. Towards this end, the ICaST editorial team will make diligent efforts, through a scrupulous reviewing process and validated data acquisition, to keep the highest standards. We shall welcome the submission of authors’ best work on topics covered by the ICaST magazine, especially those that would appeal to a broad audience interested in ICT and its impact on various aspects of life.

Our magazine is entirely internet-based. Since the internet has undoubtedly gained a comparative advantage over the paper-based world of conventional publishing and dissemination of scientific research, discussion and collaborative work. Thus, we offer a much quicker publishing cycle, a larger audience, a wider dissemination of thoughts and ideas, a broader spectrum of coverage, and a wide live network of our collaborators.

The world gets flat and networked.  Science and education get democratized. The concept of Science 2.0 and new approach to intellectual property gain more and more supporters. Web 2.0 and the open source movement is starting to  deeply change society and individuals. We want to be not only a witness of these transformations, but above all, to be an active participant in them. We invite YOU to join us by publishing your papers, contributing  new columns, editing special issues of the magazine, participating in our fora and/or becoming a part of our network.

To sum up, the editorial team is excited and stimulated by the challenges and tasks ahead. The new wave of ICT that is unfolding before our eyes, and its impact on individuals, communities and nations, its global dimension, instantaneousness, and its prodigies are fascinating phenomena, indeed.   Thus, we welcome you to collaborate with the ICaST magazine as authors, reviewers, correspondents, or simply as  visitors and commentators.
